The Ukulele Light Orchestra

My name is Darren Field, and I'm the founder of Buzzards Field Basses.  I originally borrowed a U-bass to perform and to practise with my friends from the Ukulele Light Orchestra, but I needed one to take home and use.  

However, playing was a hobby and an affordable one at that, so I couldn't justify spending the money Kala were asking for their U-bass (which, until now, has been the only real choice out-there for a bass uke player). At over £300 for a basic one, it was simply prohibitively expensive.
   
So, I decided to make them myself.  The first one I made worked! It was scruffy and pretty ugly, but it worked!  Out of curiosity, I put it for sale, perhaps with the thought that I could raise a bit more cash and make a better one for myself. It sold.
   
The second and third ukulele basses got progressively prettier.  Each was put up for sale and again, sold.

The present models I make are the product of my experience and improvements to the design and components I use.

More investment is planned for the future.  I am looking into producing a range of bass ukuleles - all at a reasonable cost.  There are also other uke and bass related ideas in the pipeline. Watch this space!
 
This business is very new.  With luck and a following wind, it will continue to grow and offer innovative and interesting music products at very reasonable prices.
